Range:

Habitat: terrestrial in moist, open, acidic bogs, prairies, pine woods, and roadsides
Common name: Orange Fringed Orchid, Yellow Fringed Orchid
Blooming: June-September
Comments: this showy terrestrial is one of the most conspicuous of the native terrestrials, its up-to-six-inch (15 cm) tall flower cluster glowing orange in the sunlight of the damp meadows where it makes its home. The one-inch (2.5 cm) tall flowers have a heavily fringed lip and a prominent spur.
