Range:

Habitat: terrestrial in open, wet meadows and roadsides
Common name: Scarlet Ladies' Tresses
Blooming: April-July
Comments: this species bears one inch (2.5 cm) long flowers usually a bright coral pink (although an albescent green form and a very rare yellow form are known). The flower head is usually about six inches (15 cm) tall, held on a stiff, hirsute stem up to two feet (60 cm) tall and is very conspicuous, even from some distance.
